A New Horizon
In 2009, when we first opened our doors at Mandarin Gallery, the world looked very different. Smartphones were still a novelty, AI was a sci-fi concept, and the idea of a Singaporean brand dedicated exclusively to a "Made in Japan" lifestyle was considered a bold—perhaps even risky—venture.

atomi has since stood at Mandarin Gallery not just as a storefront, but as a bridge. Born and bred in Singapore, we started with a singular, audacious mission: to bring the uncompromising "Made in Japan" lifestyle to the world.
Beyond the Gallery Walls
For 16 years, we have quietly consulted on the master-planning of shopping malls, the fit-outs of luxury resorts, and the curation of private sanctuaries for global trotters. Many of you know us for the furniture that has become a staple in Singapore’s most beautiful homes. But behind the scenes, atomi has grown into much more.
We have spent the last decade consulting on global stages, shaping the environments where people live, work, and play. Today, I am incredibly proud to share that we are taking our most ambitious leap yet.
The Next Leap: atomi Hotel Villas in Japan 🇯🇵🏗️
We are venturing beyond our shores to develop our very own Hotel Villa project in Japan. This isn't just a business expansion; it is a Singaporean brand exported back to the land of craftsmanship itself.
Why does this matter? In an era of AI-generated designs and "fast furniture" that ends up in a landfill, atomi represents something future-ready and human-led.
-
We started before the AI boom.
-
We will endure long after it.
You cannot "prompt" the soul of a hand-forged iron frame or the 16 years of trust we’ve built with you. Our designs are crafted for the global citizen—those who travel the world but want their home in Singapore to reflect an international standard of excellence.
A Rally Cry for the House-Proud
Supporting a brand like atomi isn’t just about a transaction; it’s about preservation. It’s about ensuring that a Singaporean-born company continues to lead in the world of Japanese craftsmanship.
In an era where "fast" and "disposable" are the norm, atomi remains a "slow" brand. Our products are built to last longer than any digital trend. When you choose atomi, you are investing in a Singaporean legacy that is currently shaping the future of hospitality in Japan.

The "New" Japanese Luxury isn't What You Think: Why We Are Building Pragmatic, Year-Round Villas in Nagano
Japan is currently experiencing a historic tourism boom, and the rush to build luxury hospitality is in full swing. But as I look at the landscape of high-end developments, especially in mountainous regions like Nagano, I see a massive gap in the market for global families, ultra-high-net-worth (UHNW) individuals, and traveling professionals.
Right now, developers are falling into two traps: building ultra-traditional ryokans that sacrifice modern Western comforts, or blowing their budgets on complex, ground-up mega-chalets with highly volatile winter-only returns.
We are taking a different path.
We are currently raising $10M SGD to acquire, renovate, and manage a portfolio of 6 to 8 boutique hotel villas in Nagano. But our thesis is built entirely on pragmatic luxury and year-round programming. Here is how we are redefining the Japanese boutique experience for the modern globetrotter.
1. Design that Bridges Cultures (The Atomi Ethos)
Many foreign travellers love the idea of sleeping on a futon on a tatami mat—until the third night of their ski trip. We are designing for the reality of the global traveler.
Drawing inspiration from the international, comfortable yet authentic design philosophy of brands like atomi, our villas maintain the serene, minimalist spirit of Japanese aesthetics but prioritise physical comfort. That means spacious, open-plan rooms, premium beds, and ergonomic, high-quality furniture. We are delivering the Japanese soul with a global standard of comfort.
2. Pragmatic Wellness Over Budget-Busting Vanity
Having a private outdoor onsen (hot spring) is often seen as the ultimate luxury flex in Japan. However, drilling for new hot springs can cost millions of yen, take years of navigating local union politics, and easily break a development budget.
Instead, our capital is meticulously focused on high-impact interiors. We are designing exquisite, spa-quality indoor hot baths. This provides the exact wellness and relaxation experience our guests crave after a long day in the mountains, but keeps our development strictly on budget. We prioritize the feeling of luxury over the vanity of the engineering.
3. Breaking the "Winter Only" Trap
Nagano is world-renowned for its powder snow, but the smartest capital in Japanese hospitality is looking at the "Green Season."
Our villas are not just ski-in/ski-out dormitories; they are holistic lifestyle retreats. We are heavily investing in the programming of the properties. Whether it is deep winter or mid-summer, we are curating experiences around:
-
Seasonal Gastronomy: Partnering with local chefs to highlight Nagano's incredible farm-to-table produce.
-
Nature Immersion: Guided long walks, forest bathing, and hiking through Japan’s pristine alpine environments.
-
Holistic Wellness: Creating a quiet sanctuary for professionals and families to disconnect and recharge, 365 days a year.
The Bottom Line for Investors
By focusing on adaptive reuse and smart renovations rather than expensive ground-up builds, and by engineering our properties for year-round occupancy rather than just a 3-month winter peak, we are building a highly resilient, cash-flowing portfolio.
We are bridging the gap between overseas capital and Japan’s booming inbound market, creating spaces where global families actually want to stay, relax, and return to.
I’m incredibly excited about this next chapter in Nagano. If you are an investor, a real estate professional, or someone passionate about the future of Japanese hospitality, I’d love to connect and share more about our $10M SGD raise and roadmap. Let’s build the future of pragmatic luxury together.
